Network marketing is a business that has been designed for the average person. It’s both a blessing and a curse like a double-edge sword.
How you do and implement your business is what your prospect will expect how they will do and implement their business. And when your prospect doesn’t join you’re business opportunity chances are you’re doing some of the things stated here.
1. Lack of Professionalism
- Have you ever seen a doctor solicit to a total stranger offering his services?
- Have you seen him out on the street giving out flyers?
- Have you ever been grabbed by one out of nowhere forcing you to take a visit at has clinic?
Now let’s take it to Facebook.
- Have you ever received a private massage from your doctor asking when you can schedule a check up because you’ve might be needing one?
- Or does he SPAM you by tagging pictures of his business?
Not most likely.
Why is that so?
Because, it’s not an acceptable way of doing business. It’s unprofessional and it’s annoying. In fact, if that doctor practice his business in that way, you’ve probably would think less of him. And all the respect and credibility you have for him will be gone.
In network marketing this is exactly what most distributors do. They resort to ineffective, tacky and second-rate advertising method. This has damaged the industry’s reputation and destroyed any image of professionalism making it almost beyond repair. And this is one of the reason why most people won’t even bother joining any opportunity that’s related to network marketing.
2. Lack of Credibility
Let’s face it, network marketers are placed on the same level of con artists and scammers. And why not? With the every popular dogma that “Everyone is your prospect!”, this has led to idiotic antics like harassing people and sometimes deceptive tactics.
And who hasn’t heard a network marketing horror story:
A prospect has been given a false expectation of how easy is this whole business, started implementing things, pouring their heart and soul only to find out that they have been set up for failure. So they got fed up and when they left they told everyone about their horrible experience.
3. Lack of Consistency
In network marketing, one thing’s for sure, there’s absolutely NO CONSISTENCY. Different sales and marketing tactics are being taught and implemented by each individual and their respective teams. Whatever was taught and implemented here is for sure not being taught and implemented over there.
4. Lack of Skill
I would like to stress something. Although this is pretty much obvious most people misinterpret this statement, even network marketers:
“If you are in Network Marketing, you are in Sales.”
Understand that in order to be successful in this industry you need to learn the ABILITY to sell.
You need to have a clear understanding of people and the mental process they go through when buying, how and why they do what they do.
You need to learn sales skills and you need to master them because the level of this ability that you have when you begin with this business will have a great effect in your success.
But the truth is most network marketers, in order to sponsor someone to their opportunity, tell their prospect that they don’t need to sell. All they have to do is share their products to people. It then gives an impression that what they’re doing is completely a different one. Its like trying a square peg forcing it to a round hole.
5. Lack of Commitment
In order to build this business you have to commit yourself for at least 8-10 hours a week or 15 hours a week if you’re serious. And these times should only be dedicated on activities that will produce income. So you will also be needing extra time for training and other activities that will improve your business skills.
Most people don’t have this luxury. Until they go out of their way and free up their schedule, they’re most likely not consider joining your opportunity.
6. Lack of Money
There are two types of people that say they have don’t have money to join your opportunity, the first one is someone who’s telling the truth that they have no money. This people might genuinely interested in your opportunity but most likely in a financial crunch. And there’s the one who’s just giving you an alibi. They cannot tell you outright that they’re not really interested they just have courage to tell you because they’re thinking that you might be offended and don’t want to hurt you feelings.
7. Lack of Knowledge
The number one cause of fear is the lack of knowledge. And with the behavior of most network marketers, like hitting up on random people and making wild and absurd claims, majority of the people that we want to sponsor have already concluded that this MUST BE how network marketing is.
Although in the back of their heads there’s still a possibility that what you’re saying about your opportunity is true, they simply cannot take the risk of being rude and rejected.
So there you have it. I hope I’ve given you a different kind of insight and an understanding on why most people won’t even bother joining you business opportunity.
