I maybe am contradicting myself with the title of this article because honestly when it comes to building my business I don’t rely on motivation.
Let me explain.
Anyone who’s trying to build their business definitely goes through cycles of being super motivated and zero motivation. No one is exempted.
But what happens to those people who go through a cycle where they have zero motivation? For most people they revert back to the things that they were used to do before they got involved in building their business.
Although they know that they need to prospect people, create content through blogging and video marketing there will be times where they will not feel like building their business.
This is the main reason why I don’t rely on motivation.
I have proven this to myself because I had days when I have zero motivation. During those days I skip things that will keep my business from moving forward. I set aside the tasks that I needed to fulfill.
With that said, you may ask, “Does motivation have a place in success in building your business?”
As I have stated earlier, every one of us goes through cycles of being super motivated and zero motivation. The next time you feel super motivated grab it as a chance to set the stage where you will be motivated all the time even if you don’t feel like it.
What does that mean?
It means putting in place some things that will get you to take the consistent actions that you need to succeed. Those super charged motivational period are golden opportunities to lay the foundation that your success can be built off of.
There are three parts of that solid foundation:
- A clear and compelling vision of what success looks like to you.
- An understanding of the habits that will lead to that success.
- Assets to overcome the obstacles that prevent you from taking those actions.
These three things working together are what make success inevitable. Yes I mean, inevitable.
If you do what you have to do with these three things then your possibility are endless. If you do them right then you can truly manifest whatever changes you want into your life.
Can you imagine implementing these three things on a consistent basis? Even if you don’t feel like building your business you will have a system that was built-in that will take you back through the path of success.
Here are my personal tips on how you can actually do that:
Set your business building activities into 3 categories:
- List Building
- Creating Content
- Use a to-do list app. I personally love using Wunderlist.
- Set an alarm clock so you can be reminded of the tasks that you need to complete for the day. I had times when I was so tired from my full time job and I fell asleep when I got home but I still have business tasks that I needed to perform. The alarm on my phone set off I woke and finished the remaining tasks for the day.
As you can realize I have times, actually most of the times, when I have zero motivation because I was so tired from my full time job but because I have established habits (this is the key) I was able to consistently build my business. So for me that’s how to be motivated all the time, in a way. 😀
I want to leave you with a quote from Aristotle that will hit the point:
“We are what we repeatedly do; excellence is not an act but a habit.”
